So I have two research papers due tomorrow for my Pilipino 101 class. The class teaches language, as well as culture. One paper is about the Philippine flag. The other is about important places in the Philippines.
The flag isn’t just a bunch of shapes knit together. Everything on the Philippine flag has a meaning.
- Blue: The color blue represents noble ideas, peace, patriotism, and justice.
- Red: Red stands for courage, and the blood spilled for freedom and justice.
- White: This stands for purity.
- Three stars: In the white triangle, there is a star in each corner. Each star represents one main region of the Philippines. The Philippines’ main regions are Luzon, Mindanao, and Visayas.
- Sun: The sun represents independence.
- Sun rays: The sun has eight sun rays. Each ray represents a province which rose up and fought against Spanish rule.
